They've temporarily removed the remote start system, and want us to "See if anything happens." Then we'll go from there. (Read: They're scrambling to order parts. Right parts.)

Turns out, there's a system from Ford themselves that's plug-and-play for the Fusion. A system that wasn't installed in our car. The service manager himself was confused as to why that's the case. The Ford system should be able to be seen in the driver information center behind the wheel, any system that's compatible with the car should be able to be seen, which the one they put on the car couldn't be seen. He said there was no reason for there to be any other system put installed in the car, and the system was about half the price of the one put on in the first place.

This all tells me that A) Our salesman went behind the service department's back and had this done by their aftermarket supplier, who fucked it up B) We were ripped off by about $250 C) There are now cut up wires under the dash that had no reason to be cut in the first place.

What. The. Hell. Sleazy much, Mr. Salesman?

Here's a motor, because, well, I'm out of pictures of the car.

Remote starters are dumb technology - they're been around for years. A Ford dealer, or any dealer, should be able to install this thing in three-quarters of an hour. If they've fucked the electronics, it will have to be made right.

call Ford. I'm sure they won't be too happy to hear about this.

My parents might, but I dunno. I would, but it's not my car.

Time to talk to the Ford Zone Rep.

Or just sell the car, because once wiring is cut haphazardly, there is almost no way to get it right, short of a harness replacement.

Don't let them brush this off. Demand they replace the wiring harness to fix the cut wires, don't just let them splice it back together.

Tell them that in order to make up for everything, that the dealer has done wrong, demand that the dealer gives your parents this: http://bommaritoford.com/St-Louis-MO/Fo… in exchange for your Safari. :)

I was just looking at that! There's that Astra and a Black '08 Fusion in their inventory that are stupidly cheap that I'd totally drive.

Either of those would be great replacements for your Safari.
